The host file is the file which are present in the windows by default.
Host file is present in the following path in windows.
Windows/System32/drivers/etc.
In host file we can give the Domain names with their respective IP addresses.As a result we can observe the increase in the speed of accessing the websites which are entered in the host file.
We can play with Host file in the following manner.


1. Host file can be used to block the websites we like.
2. By redirectin the websites to another website we like

     for example we can give domain name as yahoo.com and give IP address of some other website.Then 
     when user types yahoo.com in the web browser then the page will be redirected to the page for the 
     respective IP address.

   NOTE: May not work from Windows 7 operating system onwards. : (
