So, till now we learnt about changing our MAC address. Now coming to the actual scenario, what is the actual need to change our MAC address. One of the interesting thing we can do by changing our MAC address is, we can actually increase our internet connection speed. Thinking how......!!
SO, for example let us consider that we are connected to the internet through a low speed internet connection with a 128kbps plan for which dowload speed is low. And if we want to change our internet connection speed to 512kbps plan or even higher, it can be done easily by MAC address spoofing.
Simply follow the below steps.
1. Using Zenmap (download it here) tool discussed in the prevoius post, note down as many IP addresses as you can with their respective MAC addresses in your Local Area Network with in your broadband network range.
2. Now in these IP addresses, Manually check out which IP addresses are using high speed internet conections may be 512kbps or higher.
3. Now for example if IP address 192.176.167.32 with MAC address 00B0A962074E is using 512kbps internet speed, then if you want to forward the packets of that IP address to your computer, simply do the below steps.
4. Change your IP address as 192.176.167.32 (in this example) and MAC address to 00B0A962074E.
5. disable and enable your internet connection.
6. Thats it. Now the work is totally done. Now you will have 512kbps internet speed.Download speed will be increased.
So, play out with various IP addresses and their MAC addresses and have fun :-)
Disadvantage and how you can overcome this :
If you are using the IP address of the other computer when is switched on, then your computer and aswell as that computer will have same IP addresses. So, internet speed will be low. So, to overcome this drawback, first checkout which IP addresses of the computers which are not alive ie which are presently shutdown and use their IP addreses for your computer.
Are you thinking how you can find out whether a remote system is switched on or shutdown.
To do this simply ping their IP address. If you get reply, Then the meaning is that, it is switched on. If you
doesnt get any reply, then the meaning is that it is not alive i.e presently shut down and now you can use its IP address and MAC address. So... go ahead........ :-)
